FRENCH HR FOR UK COMPANIES
Employ staff in France with a practical post-Brexit HR model.
French HR support for UK employers: local contracts, employment cost, working time, staff representation and coordination with payroll and mobility specialists.
A MAJOR MARKET ON YOUR DOORSTEP
Scale, skills and European reach.
The UK Government describes France as one of the UK’s largest export markets, with a strong industrial base, a sophisticated consumer market and broad sector opportunities.
Long-term success also requires local language and operating capability. Once people are employed in France, UK familiarity does not replace French contracts, payroll inputs, working-time records or employee-representation processes.

THE TRANSLATION THAT MATTERS
Similar business language, different employment machinery.
| Common UK starting point | French operating decision | What monRH@moi secures |
|---|---|---|
| Offer and employment particulars | French written terms, classification, applicable sector collective agreement and mandatory information | Reliable inputs, compliant documents and manager guidance; specialist counsel where reserved advice is needed |
| PAYE, National Insurance and workplace benefits | French payroll and social-protection inputs, collective benefits and employer-cost assumptions | A dated cost model and a clean monthly data flow to the client’s chosen payroll provider |
| 37.5 or 40-hour working pattern | 35-hour legal reference, recurring overtime or another lawful arrangement, with records and limits | Contract, payroll settings, time tracking and operational controls aligned |
| Staff forum or consultation process | France’s statutory works council — the Social and Economic Committee (CSE) — where thresholds and subject matter require it | A practical calendar, documentation and clear decision ownership |
| UK-based mobility assumptions | Post-Brexit work permission, social-security and business-travel questions assessed separately | HR coordination with the appropriate immigration, payroll, tax or legal specialist |
A WORKABLE OPERATING PATTERN
Thirty-five hours does not make a 39 or 40-hour week impossible.
It is a legal reference, not a universal ceiling. Recurring hours above that reference can be organised and paid through the right framework, provided collective rules, premiums, records, rest periods and maximum working-time limits are respected.
Additional rest days may arise from a qualifying hours arrangement or an annual-days arrangement. They are not an informal substitute for unpaid overtime, and the two mechanisms should not be confused.
Official basis: working time, overtime and hours and annual-days arrangements. These official pages are in French; browser translation may help.
